About Motswako Perfoming Arts
Company History
Motswako was founded in 2000 by Abbey Maeane, Pula Setime and Maleshwane Radebe. It was established in response to social ills and the scourge of HIV/AIDS in particular, using the power of theatre to create awareness and educate. Through our programmes we have consistently been able to provide a platform for emerging artists to develop their skills and showcase their talents. Over the years, Motswako has grown to become a prominent arts institution in the region offering training programs, workshops, festivals, productions in theatre, film, and other performing arts disciplines. The centre has been collaborating with government, various organizations and stakeholders to promote arts and culture in mostly disadvantaged communities, nurturing talent and advancing careers of many artists socially and economically.
Our Vision
Our vision is to become a premier arts and culture institution, renowned for our unwavering commitment to artistic excellence, meaningful community engagement, and lasting social impact. Motswako aspires to enrich lives, ignite creativity, and contribute to building a more vibrant, inclusive, and culturally connected society.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower local communities by promoting active participation in arts, culture, technology, and sports. We aim to create inclusive spaces that nurture creativity, spark innovation, and encourage entrepreneurship—especially among youth and children—helping them build confidence, develop skills, and contribute meaningfully to society.
